Cameron C. Murphy

Cameron Murphy is a Miami Trademark Lawyer focused on all aspects of trademark practice including trademark filings, trademark applications, trademark research, trademark clearance searches and trademark enforcement.

A Registered Patent Attorney, Mr. Murphy is fully licensed to practice all aspects of patent and trademark prosecution before the United States Patent & Trademark Office (“USPTO”).. He has particular experience in addressing trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (“TTAB”).

Mr. Murphy is a proud graduate of the University of Florida College of Law, where graduated with honors with a Certificate Degree in Intellectual Property Law. He also earned his undergraduate degree – a Bachelors of Science in Material Science Engineering - from the University of Florida. Cameron is very active outside of the office, especially in the Miami business community where he is a member of the International Committee of the Miami-Dade Beacon Council, IPLAF (Intellectual Property Law Association of Florida), as well as the Florida Bar Business Law Section Intellectual Property Committee. He also enjoys membership in the Miami Chapter of the Copyright Society of the USA – a chapter founded by our law firm.

In addition to practice before the USPTO (including the TTAB), Mr. Murphy has considerable experience in Federal litigation matters involving trademark infringement, trade dress infringement, unfair competition, domain name disputes, and cybersquatting. He has also assisted a variety of counterfeiting defense actions on behalf of several well known brands including Bose and Adobe.

Mr. Murphy has successfully defended jurisdiction challenges in trademark actions, briefed advanced discovery motions, and assisted in conducting secondary meaning and confusion trademark surveys.

His litigation experience includes preparation of motions for summary judgments, advanced discovery motions, as well as related motions for dismissal and/or amendment of initial pleadings in high stakes trademark lawsuits.

  • Sedna Aire USA, Inc. v. Sunologi, Inc., 1:15-CV-24753-MGC, 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 188619 (S.D. Fla. Nov. 18, 2016) (successful opposition of accused infringer’s motion to amend affirmative defenses and counterclaims in trademark infringement suit) (represented plaintiff);
  • FlexFunds ETP LLC v. Meeder Investment Mgmt, 1:16-CV-23934-RNS (SD Fla. Feb. 2017) (settlement of trademark ownership dispute resulting in transfer of domain name and federal registration) (represented plaintiff);
  • Palm Partners LLC v. Palm Beach Treatment Center LLC, 9:17-CV-80582-RLR, 2017 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 133401 (S.D. Fla Aug. 18, 2017) (successful denial of motion for Rule 12 dismissal of trademark action) (represented plaintiff);
  • Custom Cutlery v. Churnick et al., 1:16-CV-24491-FAM, (S.D. Fla. Mar. 2, 2017) (obtained settlement agreement in trade dress infringement action that required plaintiff pay the defendant $450,000) (represented defendant)
